Membership Matters 2026:
Our Second Annual Covenant Renewal

Dear Shiloh Family,

The Advent/Christmas season has ended and we have now arrived at our second annual membership covenant renewal. This intentional process, which launched so successfully last year, helps us live out our identity as a congregation committed to active discipleship, and within our covenant relationship with the Global Methodist Church (GMC). Therefore, we collectively renew our commitment to God and to one another. Throughout the rest of January, we invite every person who calls Shiloh home to affirm their intentional commitment by completing a simple Membership Commitment Card.

More Than a Card: A Covenant Commitment
For too long, church membership in general has been viewed as a passive possession—something akin to a library card you hold but rarely use.
This annual renewal is designed to shift that perspective, making membership at Shiloh a true covenant, based on shared commitment and clear expectations, in alignment with the GMC’s doctrine.
This covenant is what gives strength and validity to your voice and intentions within the church family.

The Four Pillars of Full Membership:
If you choose Full Membership, you are committing to active participation in four key areas that shape our shared life:
  1. Spiritual Formation: Nurturing your faith through Bible study, prayer, and discipleship groups.
  2. Worship: Gathering regularly for worship and the sacraments.
  3. Stewardship: Faithfully sharing your time, talents, and financial resources.
  4. Service: Actively serving others within the church and the wider Jasper community.

Reassurance for Longtime Members
We know that some long-term members may feel anxiety about an "annual renewal." Please be assured: This process is about affirmation, not arbitrary exclusion.
  • We value your history and dedication. This is an invitation to reaffirm the deep, foundational commitment you made years ago.
  • This is a grace-filled process. We are not looking to remove anyone. Our leadership is committed to lovingly supporting and reaching out to any member who may have drifted, offering a path for restoration and re-engagement. If a member remains disengaged despite our best efforts, they may be designated as "inactive," but even that designation is a time of grace, not punishment.

Welcoming Newcomers
For those who have recently joined us, or who are considering making Shiloh their church home, we welcome you to participate.
Our prayer is that this second annual renewal will make Shiloh Church stronger, more focused, and more vibrant as we continue to seek disciples of Jesus Christ for His Name’s sake.
We're excited about renewing our covenant together with you!
